Canon7D,70-300lens@120mm,1/1000sec,f7.1,ISO500,about80% of original. Evening sun.
Possibly the closest I've been to this elusive bird. I was able to get several shots of this meal, but this is the best action. Is the head turn a problem? May be posting others in the sequence later.

Well done on this one Roger,
Great action, fine details and that Heron is 'Hanging On'.
The head turn is what it is and not a problem to me, the image does need some NR however.

Nice action pose and a good photo op for a close-up. A slight head turn would have made for a good profile shot, however the photo can hold its own.. catching the fish, water droplets, position of the legs and the texture and colour of the bird. Very nice.

Well you got a great head turn from the fish Roger  Sweet action, I like the water droplets, ideally you would have had a bit more eye contact from the bird too. :toast:

Cool action and I like the unusual angle, Roger. The head turn does detract a bit from the ideal, but it's still a very good image. The eye on the fish helps a lot.

Nice action Roger. I like the water flying off the fish. I agree more head turn from the heron would make this stronger. However, I think the main part that detracts for me is the noise. Seems like you may have over worked the shadows in tis image a bit too much. You can do some NR, but obviously you would loose some detail in the bird feathers.
