The juveniles are out in force in our back yard with a continuous chorus of "feed me". We had high clouds and filtered sun today, so I decided to do some afternoon shooting. I always like the drying grasses as a bg. I'm not quite as fond of them as an oof foreground. I love the colors of the juveniles.

1Div, 500mm f4 ISL + 1.4TC, Black Widow on RRS legs. f8, 1/3200, iso 6340, Av mode with -1/3 stop compensation. Cropped from the horizontal (nothing taken off top or bottom). Processed in CS6 (little except some minor noise reductions, sharpening and cleaning up the beak a trifle). Taken next to our backyard pond at 2:35 pm this afternoon.

Your comments and criticisms are very much appreciated.

Thanks for looking,

I like it a lot, call those kind of pictures as a moody ones, the grasses in the background looks like they in movement, maybe a bit brighter bird would be better, other that sweet shot! Well done! :wavey: :toast: :wavey:

Dennis,

I like the grasses in the FG, they add to the overall dreamy mood :toast:

Beautiful artistic image especially with the red accents, Dennis. I think I would like a little more contrast between subject & BG, especially in the region around the head.

Great view of this youngster Dennis. The splash of red is cool, and I really like the subtle colors of the bird and the way it contrasts with background.
