Tiger Heron

This photo was taken in Costa Rica 03/12. I was standing on a boat in motion taking the shot. Was an almost perfect shot for my liking, except for the blur from the right wing. Photo is cropped and enhanced by sharpening and dulling the background for the composition.

Canon EOS 5D Mark II
EF100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM

Great pose, John. It looks like you did a good job handling the harsh light. When I looked at the larger image, it looked to me as if your focus might have been on the body rather than the eye-but I could be wrong-the harsh light on the eye makes it difficult to be sure. The slight blur to the wing is a positive for me as it helps emphasize the motion.

Nice action pose. The light is pretty harsh and doesn't help with the overall impact. I also looked at the larger version and see that it isn't sharp where it really needs to be. Can i ask why the extra link rather than just posting a larger version here? Also you could make it easier for viewers to just click on the link rather than having just text has must be copied and pasted. Take a look at the Text Style menu for details.

Regarding comments: Keith and Dennis thank you for the critique. You are absolutely right, the focus points seem to be not just right, I was not able to put my finger on it, seemed like the wing was causing the problem. I took the lens in to the shop and they said it wasn't the lens. So it's probably the motion in the boat when doing a guided boat tour shot and my fairly recent entrance into the hobby. Great comments, seems like I have got a lot to learn.

I cant seem to get a 1200X800 image down to less than 500kb.. I'll do the http://natureshues.files.wordpress.com/2013/08/tigerheron01a.jpg link.

Cool, thank you guys.
