Like juveniles of all species, young American Goldfinches are curious about everything. This one watched two ants come down the Crocosmia stem it was perched on. I increased the brightness of the eye selectively as there wasn't much light in it.

1Div, 500mm f4 ISL + 1.4TC, Black Widow on RRS legs, f10 (from just trying to get two birds in the same frame), 1/1250, Av mode with - 1/3 compensation, iso 640. Processed in CS6 and cropped to 7.4 MP by trimming from the sides-full frame vertically. Taken July 31st at 3:39 pm under high clouds.

love everything about that shot only one thing I would change ;would add a bit on brightness, nice work

I agree with Verdon, in that I think it could do with being a little lighter

Nice capture and an entertaining shot. If anything the foreground blur is slightly distracting. Reducing the red might enhance the photo.

Another great shot in the same style, Dennis. As before my preference is for a bit more contrast between subject & BG especially in the head area, and also a bit brighter overall. I prefer the other image particularly because of the red accents.
