I have always found capturing these animals running through the waters where they like to live to be almost impossible, mainly because they usually run away from you rather than past you.
This was one of my luckier moments.
Taken in the Kwando concession, Northern Botswana
ID MkIV
70-200mm F2.8 Mk II +1.4x at 235mm

All nicely in focus & it's a wonderful setting Ken.
Great pano comp, really suits it.
I especially like the water splash behind the 5th runner :toast: :toast:

I have the same trouble with flying birds. These look very similar to our whitetail deer. Are these all females?

Excellent catch.

I guess the impossible just takes a little bit longer Ken. So nice to see the variety of poses and all with their heads up as they go past. Very nice setting indeed. The pano view is perfect for showing the spread out herd. :toast:

Thanks everybody for your kind comments, much appreciated.
Philip,
Not to sure about the sex of all as some are youngsters
Gary,
Whilst it is relatively easy to "set up" a photo of these chasing towards the camera you need two vehicles, one for you and one to disturb them, I could never consider it

Hey Ken. I agree with you on not resorting to tactics like "pushing" the deer as hunters do in order to flush them towards you. To clarify, my comments were meant to imply that through patience and being in the right place you were ultimately rewarded with the type of photo you were hoping for. Certainly didn't mean to suggest anything "funny" going on!!!

Gary,
Sorry for the misunderstanding, I merely meant to imply that many "wildlife photographers" do this kind of thing and worse,no names though. The "impossible" certainly takes longer but I prefer it
