This photograph was taken at Dana Point Marine Life Refuge, Dana Point, CA 92629. That morning the refuge had Snowy Egrets, Black-crowned Night-Herons, Tricolored Herons and Black-necked Stilts. A follow up photo from that day.

Peter, interesting photo of this heron. It looks like it is molting or been out in the rain. To me the BG does not work well, with out enough contrast between the BG and the heron, but that is just MHO. Thanks for sharing, looking forward to seeing more.
