Bakken's Pond Sunrise + earlier shot

I shot this picture last December just after sunrise at Bakken's Pond Wildlife Area just a couple of miles from my home. After 90+ degrees and high humidity today I guess I was thinking about something that felt cooler to me. I posted a shot I made a few minutes earlier from this morning awhile back and thought I would like to get your thoughts on this one as well. I especially liked the frost on the grass on this December morning. I shot this at ISO 800 trying to stop the movement from a light wind blowing. Thanks too for your comments on my last post!

This makes a great Pano, Nick. The rim lighting on the cattails makes this image special. The golden hues are very appealing. Nice work. Chet

Awesome light... the comp is perfect too with the higher grass on either end of the frame. Nice work, Nick!

Beautiful light and color Nick, and I especially like the crop, fits the scene so well. Excellent work.

That light is about as good as it gets, Nick. Looks like a great morning with all that frost and rim light on the cat tails. Great call on the pano format BTW.

Real nice, Nick! I love the warm light and the shallow DOF works quite well. I like this a lot.

Wonderful warm back-light here on these cattails, Nick. The pano display is perfect for this arrangement too. Image does not seem to have suffered at all with the higher iso either.

Thanks to all of you for your comments on this! I included the shot I posted before (as Stan mentioned doing for comparison) which I had made a little earlier on the same morning. There was a pretty cool glow to this one but I'm thinking the brighter one might make a better print.I think overall it may have less movement and be a little sharper besides just brighter. Thanks for any thoughts on that as well if you feel like it. Nick

Sweet!! I like this a lot Nick, especially the large version. I love the way the icy reeds at the bottom of the frame are juxtaposed against the warm light. Composition is perfect in my opinion, backlight looks great, and this would be SO NICE hanging above a fireplace. WELL DONE!!

EDIT: I like this far better than the earlier print.

Yes, I remember your other post. Both are nice, but I think I prefer this one. Maybe because it's lighter and gold, and also fro the frost on the grass. The backlight is georgeos.

Love the larger version! The colors are awesome, I like this post better than the earlier version as, in my opinion' the colors look more natural. Nice work on this one!

Beautiful warm colors. The backlighting really makes this seem more like late summer than a winter shot. Love the dof you chose
