Autumn Abstract

Taken in 2003 with a hand-held Canon G3, Connetquot River State Park on Long Island. It's one of my all time favorite photos, taken with a low-end camera that I had in a coat pocket as Donna and I strolled through the park.

Sometimes, memorable photos can be taken with the simplest of equipment when you're out and about without photography as the main objective!

I can see why it is one of your all-time favorites. Very cool abstract. Great shapes and colors.

I agree with Harley, Jim. This is a nice abstract, and I like the various colors. It's certainly true that opportunity will knock when one least expects it.

Jim, like all good abstracts it takes a bit of viewing before you can get your bearings on them and this one fits that nicely. As we all know it's not the array of equipment used it's how we see things and actually take the time to capture it. Wonderful closeup take on this small cascade.

We lived very close to this area when I was a kid.......

Absolutely amazing. It took me a bit to figure out what I was looking at.

Jim, this is really gorgeous, very nice color and reflections, I also notice what looks like a tiny forest scene bottom right. Beautifully seen and presented.

A beautifully complex abstract that holds and rewards ones attention very well. So much energy and a kind of surreal beauty. I like this a lot. :toast: Chet

Moving water does such interesting things to reflections! Well seen. Your point about equipment is one that I like to make when I run workshops, "It's not the equipment, it's the operator." or "Know the strengths and limits of your equipment".

Thanks to all for commenting!

Funny thing, when I was looking for this photo in my files I was expecting the data to indicate my old Canon 10D - I did a double-take when I saw it was taken with the G3! Then again, I'm lucky to remember what I had for breakfast this morning, so I guess forgetting what camera was used 10 years ago should'nt be a shocker...

BTW, you can see Donna and me in the photo, and the hand rail I had the camera supported on.

This is really a cool looking image, Jim. Kind of hard to figure out just what it is at first. The light, colors, lines and shapes are all just amazing. :toast:
