Smokin' Hot

This is one of my shots from a recent trip out to the Big Island to shoot lava, where I had the pleasure of having Bruce Omori take me out to the ocean entry. I highly recommend him as a guide if anyone is heading out that way. There were no surface flows during this trip, but a fair amount of activity at the coast. I took this shot as the front portion of this active flow separated and began to fall into the ocean.

Great shot, the almost centered composition works pretty well and very nice job handling the highlights and shadows. Sweet :toast:

What an exquisite image of a truly magical scene. Your choice of exposure and focal length was exceptional. You really get a feel for earth's restlessness. :toast:

Pretty darn nice, Brian! Exposure, contrast and color look great. I also like the reddish glow in the steam.

Restless Earth, indeed!
