Waxwing

Hi everyone! We were in Waterton a couple weeks ago and found a big flock of waxwings! I absolutely love these birds and think they're really fun to photograph. They can be a pain at times though, but what bird can't? I saw this guy perch in a nearby tree and thought it would make a really cool image! I tried for an "animal-scape" type image and I think it worked out just fine. Before you mention, though, I do know that I clipped off the end of the branch. I'm really disappointed I didn't notice this while I was taking the image.

Thanks for lookin'! :wavey:

Jenaya: Nice image. I like the "animal-scape". Proof that the bird does not need to fill the frame every time to have a successful image. Wonderful background and perch. Yea, too bad about the clipped branch. It does tend to draw me out of the frame. Still like the frame very much.

Nice catch, Jenaya. Like you, I really like these guys. Such smooth and quiet colors. The "scape" intent works well here. The colors are all complementary and the BG shows off the bird and the branches very well. Good composition and you did real well on the exposure.

Great pose you captured of this beauty Jenaya  Even with the branch cropped off, it is still a very strong composition.
