Torrential rains last weekend caused the family farm ponds to overflow. Caught this juvenile Black-crowned Night Heron taking advantage of the shallows, catching minnies and tadpoles, near last light.

Very well done especially considering last light. Nice color on the heron and sharpness on the key areas appears fine. His body posture with the legs so far back makes him look like he should fall forward, just an illusion I suspect. The grass above his body is somewhat prominent and I imagine that you kept the area above him to a minimum to reduce their effect. Nice shot and gratifying to get this right on your own property I bet!

Sweet, Sharon. Perfect dof and very crisp. I like the angle you got on the bird.

Really nice detail and a great look at the eye, just a touch tight in the frame for me, nicely done Sharon :toast:

The large version is a must see. Wonderful stalking pose and excellent detail. You and Bill nailed these guys.
