Farewell to Summer

The pose of this Song Sparrow made me think of one last hurrah for summer, though it sang long and persistently. I liked the back lighting on this one. I had another frame with a pose I liked slightly better but it had a grass head sneaking in to cover the tail tip, so I went with this one. I did clone out the remnants of that grass head.

1Div, 500mm f4 ISL + 1.4TC on beanbag. f8, 1/400, Av mode with no compensation, iso 640. Processed in CS6 and cropped to 7.6MP. Taken at 8:28 am, September 8th at Ridgefield NWR.

Your comments and criticisms are most appreciated.

Thanks for looking,

The directional backlighting is stunning and I can't find any part of the sparrow this isn't tack sharp. The message I feel is welcome to a wonderful morning. Very nice!

Hi Dennis. I like the pose as well, I agree that the lighting and singing together creates that autumn feeling that is upon us now. I like the subtle rim lighting effect, but personally would like to see the shaded side a bit brighter, without loosing the effect of course. I agree with John, very sharp!!!
