American Pipit

Summer has swiftly disappeared. Fall migration is very sparse. The weather has been clear so I think most of the birds have just kept on travelling south. I managed to find this American Pipit the other day and was rather pleased with this image.

Nikon D800, 300 mm lens, with a 1.4 teleconverter, ISO 640,f 5.6, 1/8000, HH

Thanks for looking and critiques appreciated.

Nice, clean shot of this bird. I enjoy the blue sky and the rock perch. If this were mine, I'd try to darken that rock just a bit. Nevertheless, a great image.

My favorite overlooked species. Always nice to get one a bit off the ground like this. As Ralph suggests I'd darken the rock a little.

Really nice shot of this Pipit, May! Beautiful blue bg sets of this bird's dull plumages so nicely! Sharon

Nice detail in the birds plumage. Good sharpness. IMHO it could be a bit darker. Thanks for sharing.

Sweet alert pose you captured of this intriguing bird May. I found a few on Mount Rainier a few weeks ago, but never got a single photo of one.

Sweet One

The late spring storms in Alaska decimated sparrows and warblers in spring migration. I suspect many of these populations will be several years recovering.

A lovely shot of this Pipit, May. Getting it against the sky is very nice. I'm okay with the rock.

The sky background sets the bird off well, May. Nice composition. The few shots I have of this species mostly have them off the ground also.
