Misty morn
by Carolyn Derstine
Just returned from the Canadian Rockies where I took many landscape shots, but not very many floral or macro. However, since it was fairly misty when we were at Lake Louise, I focused more on the flowers rather than the fog-shrouded lake.

The flowers are really bright and colorful, maybe a bit too much. I think it would work well cropped to 4x5 ratio and either crop off the top or bottom. Most would say losing some of the flowers is crazy, but it brings better balance if you want to keep all of the mountain and sky IMO. Cropping out the sky also works since the you are composing with color and negative space.
I somehow like the inclusion of the mountain as the backdrop which is just apt for all the spiky snap dragon resembling flowers and also the tree tops.
Love the FG to BG contrast that this image provides.
Very nice
