Maligne Lake

A view of the historic boat house, dating back to 1929, on Maligne Lake with the majestic mountains in the background. Rowboats and kayaks can be rented there; I would have loved to do this if we would have had time. Too much to see and too little time!

Canon 60D. 35mm at F/18 for 1/160 sec. ISO 1600. Handheld, natural lighting.

Carolyn, this is lovely! I think it would benefit from some darkening of the mountains and maybe the sky. I would love to see this! :toast:

Carolyn,
This is a beautiful local and well captured.
That water looks awful inviting,

Very nice colors and you chose an excellent vantage point for this composition. Well done to capture this scene without a lot of people cluttering the photo. As an aside, there is a proposal afoot to permit construction of a hotel on Maligne Lake!

Gosh, how peaceful is this scene.

Like you I'd love to grab a manually operated watercraft and maneuver around the area out there. Has a bit of ageless Norman Rockwell feel to the scene. Very nice capture, Carolyn. From your recently posted images it looks like it was a wonderful trip all the way around.

Carolyn: We did a trip similar to yours 4 years ago and I can't wait to go back. I shot the boat houses on Lake Louise and Morraine Lake but when we were at Maligne there were too many folks around and I couldn't get a good comp. I'm really enjoying your shots. >=))>

Terrific job keeping the tourists out of this image. Your high vantage point shows the mountains in the distance nicely as well.

What a pleasant looking place, Carolyn! I'm guessing it's normally more populated than you're showing in this shot. Nice composition with excellent details and color. The only nit picking I can offer is the highlight clipping in the clouds and snowcaps but it's not very noticeable. Very nice shot!
