Thank you for your comments on my recent Ponderosa Pine image!

This is an older image made at a small pond in my home town of Columbia. It was late afternoon on Thanksgiving Day in 2004. I thought it would be interesting to create a pano from the full frame 4x5 transparency. I rarely do panos, so this was kind of an experiment.

Tachihara 4x5
Nikkor-M, 300mm
Astia 100f

Please see large version.

Your comments and critiques are always appreciated.

Hey Preston, I like the composition here, and your rendition of subtle color. I think the room at the top adds a lot and I like how you draped the foliage. The background elements take my attention somewhat, but not significantly. Nice, peaceful scene

Really like the composition, works very well in my opinion. The still water reflections and soft colors gives it a peaceful feel. Pretty scene indeed Preston.

I like it, Preston. The comp works well for me, as does the pano. I would like it warmed up. The colors feel cold to me (and yeah, I tried it already  ).

Preston, the pano composition works just fine IMO. However, I'm looking for a turn down on the brightness just a bit, and or, maybe the warming Harley mentions. I think the adjustments could be global also. Again, just a tad on both items.

Really like this Preston. The pano format works very well, emphasizing the nice vertical lines. I might burn the highlights in the grasses a bit, especially the grass in the background in the upper left.

Preston, the pano here really makes this image, works extremely well for me... I agree about slightly turning down the brightness

very nice pano. My eye, too, seems to have a little claustrophobia. I'd like to see some on each side PLUS a full mirror image in the water.

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone!

I added an 85 photo filter layer at +25 , darkened the image overall just a bit, and burned down the grasses.

Lucy , with the lens I had to use on the original full frame 4x5, there was no way to get the full reflection--wish I could have, but, like many other shots, I had to take what I could get.

I'd appreciate your thoughts on the repost.

What a wonderful scene, Preston. I love the soft and quiet mood this has. I think the repost is even better but wish I could see them side by side. Seems like this would make a great looking print! Very, very nice!

Very nice eye to find a comp that most might walk past. This works very well. The shapes, colors, and textures all play together nicely here.

I like the "valence" of leaves at the top of this image. Simple, elegant composition. The pano works.

Repost nails it, Preston, without loosing the nice luminance to the tree bark.
