BTW, I softened up the larger image from the feedback given in the forum.

John, there is nothing natural here. The GBH and rocks appear way oversharpened and the water "noise reduced" to death. To be blunt. :frown:

I do definitely like the flight pose of the bird.

I agree with Philip's critique. I've mentioned on previous posts that your images have been over sharpened, at least for posting at NPN sizes.

John: I must agree with the assessments from Phil and Richard.

In addition, as has been noted a couple of times, the comment to posting ratio of 5 comments for each post is the only way this site can work effectively. I strongly encourage you to provide meaningful comments on at least 5 images for every image you post. While this is only a guideline and there is no way to enforce it, I think you'll see over time that others may refrain from providing feedback on your images.

Thank you all for the comments, I value your feedback especially when I am getting my feet wet in the hobby.

I tend to like the images for this type of bird to be sharp and deep in contrast. I am going for the dramatic shots getting beyond the natural environment. I intend to make these a series (you may see a continuity in the gallery of shots for this bird).

In regards to the commenting - given the level I am in my hobby, I rather observe all of you who have years of experience and your comments. My comments may be seen as amiable, positive and weaker on the constructive. I however am comfortable with them. Thank you.
