Translucent Epiphyllum

by Giuseppe Guadagno

Gallery: FloraPosted September 25, 2013230 views14 comments
The Epiphyllum is one of the cactus flowers most transparent when back lit and with plenty of light.

In the greenhouse near home, early in the morning, taken against the rising sun.

D700, Nikkor 200mm macro - F/22 and ISO 280

I will be very glad to know your thoughts and advices.

Gigi - What a pretty frame !!. Love the lighting and how you used the leaves the frame the flowers. The curled brown petal/sepal also makes for an interesting element in the frame.

Very Nice work

This is very interesting Gigi. I like the translucency and the unconventional comp. Very nice.

Love the flowers totally, the framing not so much. While they do frame, and occupy space, there just is something not feng shui about them. However, that is a personal feeling, and they certainly are unique and different.

The flower is beautiful, Gigi! I agree with Phil about the frame. The frame is unusual but I think it crowds the flower. Your translucent treatment of the flower really brings out some amazing detail. Wonderfully done!
