Transition
by Matthew Goldsmith
This image was made in October 2012 in West Virginia, when the first snow of the season was falling. The falling snow over the water reminds me of a snow globe, which is sort of how I remember the scene. There was a very large, out of focus snow flake that I cloned out, but I have left the others. I'm wondering what folks think about that. C&C appreciated. Large version posted.

13 commentsThis image is certainly not cliche though. The falling snow, including the out of focus flakes, give this an impressionist feel and I like it very well. Marvelous scene, beautifully captured and wonderfully processed.
EDIT: After posting my comment I read Nathan's comment in which he said this looks like a watercolor painting. My comment was meant to be a tongue-in-cheek jab at my own comment and not anyone else. I hope it came across that way.
Nathan, Brian, and Thomas...thank you for commenting on the snow. The more I look at it, the more I am liking the out of focus flakes.
