Biding His Time

I was out early to the local nature area this morning to see what the deer were up to. Lots of does and fawns but few bucks. I did find this fellow bedded down close to a few does, just seemingly biding his time until the hormones kick it up a notch. He was fairly well concealed except his antlers were a dead give away. And he did manage to lie down in some nice light. This one was the best of the series for posting here. A few minor adjustments included warming the WB a bit, adding .5 stop of exposure, and normal sharpening. There are a couple of very thin pieces of veg that cross his face but I didn't find them a distraction so I left them. I would appreciate any comments or critiques you might have.

Nice environmental shot. Nice looking buck, I wish we could see more of him.

I like the early morning light Peter, hard to beat. The colors of the dried grass and the rugged fallen tree trunk on the left is nice as well. I do agree with Richard that seeing more of the body in this setting would enhance this image significantly, ie. could he please stand up.

It is neat that you managed to get his head "spot lighted!"
