Pure Iceland

A beautiful waterfall on the Berufjarðará River in the East Fjords of Iceland. As far as I can tell, this waterfall doesn't even have an official name. I checked the Kortabok Atlas, Googlemaps and a high rez topo map of Iceland and the waterfall isn't even marked. Iceland is one of the places in the world where an amazing waterfall like this doesn't even make it onto the map!

I once saw more falls (some like this) in coastal Alaska coming off just two glaciers next together than there is in the entire Columbia River Gorge all put together, and none of them were marked or had names. The world is a big and still largely unexplored place for us photographers. Kudos for capturing that leading flow into that cool blue drop though, this is a refreshing sight.

An most appealing flow to this image both compositionally and with the shuttered water. The cool water tones complement the earthy colours nicely.

I like the perspective of your composition and the foreground lines from the flowing cascades give this some nice energy. The color in that water is amazing and the spray conveys the power of the waterfall. Very nice work, Scott.

awesome shot, scott. :toast: i love the dynamic comp and your processing is spot on.

since i remember stopping there too (my image sucks..), i couldn't resist to do some research: seems like the waterfall is called Folaldafoss - at least that's what's it's named by quite a few people. i'm not sure if that's an official name, though...

Terrific image. There is a blue caste in the whites of the Fall itself, not sure if that was intended or not?
I think it would look better with the caste removed, the blue at the bottom in the water is great.

Powerful water motion Scott. I especially like the foreground flow. Powerful waterflow is always difficult to capture and I think you did very well here especially with the major waterfall in the background.
