Milky Pocket

I really enjoyed my first visit to White Pocket last week. "Other-worldy" was the best descriptor that came to mind. John Mumaw, you called it right when you said early October is often blue sky time in the area. I was slightly disappointed not to have any sky action during the day, but I took advantage of the clear skies and went back out at night to make this image. Two scorpions and a very large spider paid me a visit as I worked. I decided it was time to pack up when the second scorpion came along.

This is a two image blend, one for the sky at 20 sec (f/2.8, ISO 4000), one for the ground at 50 seconds. As always, C&C much appreciated.

Really great composition in this Jared. The large version has great detail in the fore ground. Very eerie feel to this. Very well done. :toast:

Jared, I agree with Bill about the eerie mood of this image and it is very cool. I too like your comp and that fantastic sky.

Jared, This one caught my attention. I really like the comp and detail. I always want to try this, but never have the patience to figure out what I'm doing with exposure times (and where the heck did I set that camera bag) ....throw in the dark, and a fear of things that lurk in the woods after dark and you get a day time photographer...so thanks for showing me something I wouldn't otherwise ever see.... :jump:

Beautiful night sky Jared. The light balance and colot look great. Those creepy crawlers would have certainly freaked me out for sure.

Nice processing Jared. The comp is perfect too. I think the color in the stars is great. Perhaps my only nit is that it's a little soft in the FG

Man, I especially love the large version Jared! Almost makes me feel like I'm there! Fantastic comp and image! :toast:

And I would've taken the time to photograph the arachnids if I was able!
