Into the Mist

Between the wind, mist, and rain, this took a lot of shots to finally get a clean image…was definitely pushing my girlfriend’s patience on this one! I ended up blending 2 shots together to keep the trees sharp in the wind and bring some soft water to the party. I missed the peak fall color in other spots, but seemed to time this one right as the leaf drop was just starting. I love a good saturating rain in Oregon!

Love this. The colors, the mist, the angle, the water flow, all perfect.

Very dramatic weather, beautiful fall color. The water fall is pretty spectacular, too. Very nice image

I like this a lot--the mist and autumn color really make this one. Nice work with the composition, as well, Brian.

Brian,

This is wonderful in all regards. Beautiful scene, excellent comp, great color, processing. Can't offer much in terms of suggestions, this is wonderful.

Well, in trying to be consistent with other members and images, I'm going to go ahead and move this to the Man & Nature Gallery due to the presence of the foot bridge. Not a big footprint, but certainly a recognizable "hand of man." Hope you understand. Let us know if you have any questions.

Is this Wahclella? Oh, or maybe Elowah? If Wahclella, I have never been able to get up that lava field high enough for this perspective. I'm sure it was more than your girlfriend's patience that you tested here!

Thanks for all the great comments and feedback everyone.

Marylynne, this is Elowah Falls in the gorge. To get this vantage point, it's a decent scramble up the crumbled basalt rocks...even then I still needed the 14mm to get in the full view.
