I stopped to shoot these Aspen during my fall trip this year because of the light coming through the forest on them. I was hoping it would convert well to black and white, and I think it translated in some degree to what I saw. It really revealed the textures of the trees, and the lines of the foreground trees spelled out N and i which, of course, is the symbol for Nickel so I tried to process it to emphasize that.

Large version included,

C&C always welcome, and thanks for looking,

Morris

hmm Like this Morris, wish we had Aspens nearest to it for Scotland is silver birch but not as spectacularly clean I fear.

Interesting concept and great eye to see this. Although the boles are bunched up together the interplay of light and shadow really works well to convey the depth of the scene. Very nice.

Well done, although there is more white and near white tones than I would like. Still, that is the subject, and this is an excellent b/w rendition.

Works for me. This is a nice group of trees. There's a small, dark branch in the background, near center that catches my eye for some reason, but that's minor--nicely done, Morris.

This is just superb, Morris. The leaning aspens add so much character here, and b&w was the way to go. Not quite sure what 'nickel' processing entails, but whatever it is, it turned out perfectly. Eminently printable!

Thanks for the comments everyone. :wavey:

Harley, it refers to the movie "Monty Python and The Holy Grail." One of the skits in the movie was about knights who say Ni!

I was wondering who would come up with that reference first from my symbol for nickel. Of course it was Stan.
