Although I didn't depart from the LE/eddy look of Elakala Falls, I did try for something different in a reflection of the sky. Being down in a gorge, traditional comps that include the sky don't usually work (for me). Stacked ND and Polarizer (only slight polarization) for this look.

Nikon D800, Nikon 14-24, f/16, 30 sec, ISO 100

Thanks for your C&C!

The falls and and swirling pool are gorgeous and I like your chosen exposure. I also like the concept of the reflecting pool but might darken the brightest spot since it is an eye magnet.

Fascinating shot Navin, so much going on here. My only suggestion would be a little dodging and burning, maybe darkening the mossy area mid-frame a bit, as well as the far right-middle of the pool. Great thinking to envision this!

Hi Navin,
Real winner in my eyes! Very nice. Love the waterfall and swirl. Just the waterfall alone would have done it for me.

Now that is one stack of elements Navin! I love the shot. :toast:

I'm not too certain how much the pool upfront adds to it. But then again it sure makes for a lot of interest! :toast:

Really interesting and engaging, Navin. A lot of interesting elements to take in, and I like the color and movement. It does feel a little bit too busy to me; "messy" is not the right word for it, but I'm having trouble putting the dissonance to words. I know I would have a hard time deciding on a comp here. I'm sure you'll nail it with some experimentation. :toast:

Interesting, but way too much going on here for me.
A minor thing, but I would use Free Transform to straighten the water fall flow.
The water should drop vertically.

Nice depth and colors in this Navin and I like your comp. I'd maybe darken the highlight in the reflection but excellent as it is. Great job.

Hi everyone, thanks for your comments. My purpose with the comp was to have quite distinct shapes from afar (oval, circle, triangle) all in a line and then allow the viewer to hone in on elements upon closer inspection. I can see now how it is busy. I would have moved a little closer into the pool to eliminate some of the sides of the frame, but would have sacrificed the eddy (since it would have been covered by the FG rock).

To minimize the "chaos" of the image, I applied some cloning. Does this work any better for you?

Navin, This is a very interesting scene and I like it. Even though there is quite a bit going on it all works for me. It is pretty cool looking around in your larger version. I think the cloning you did and darkening the highlights in the front pool did help as well. That is a great looking falls and the eddy with the swirls looks great too. Very nice!

Wow there's just so much to enjoy here. You could almost crop it into thirds top to bottom and have three images. Very cool! :toast:

Hi Navin - Taming the bright area in the foreground pool is a big improvement for me. Overall I like the comp and "chaos" as is.

The stack of elements works quite well, and I do like the toned down version better. I would have preferred a little more breathing room beneath the pool in the foreground, but that's personal preference. Congrats on finding something a little different.

A very beautiful scene, and you did a nice job with it. I would like a little more space top and bottom, but it still does work as is. The progression of elements from bottom to top leads the eye very well.

Neat shot, Navin, kind of makes me wish for an ultrawide in my lens collection. I like the long view that you've taken here. I do think that the brightest parts of the sky reflection are pulling too much attention and that some burning in there would better balance the 3 major elements. The subtle changes in the repost work well and I'm amazed at your ability to read my mind in advance.
