Thanks for your comments on my recent Big Pine Creek image!

This late afternoon image of Lone Pine Creek at Whitney Portal was made the same day as my previously posted Mount Whitney sunrise image. It was an enjoyable and productive day on the East Side.

Tachhara 4x5
135mm Fujinon
Astia 100F
TK's Masks
(Cropped a bit from the bottom and right side)

Please see the large version.

Your comments and critiques are always welcomed.

Very nice image, Preston. I really like how the water seems to zig-zag down the hillside, changing direction after each little falls. SS looks just about right with enough detail left to see it's moving water. Colors look quite real. Nice relaxed mood from the image.

Wonderful water texture, and I like the flow from upper left to lower right.

Preston, a fantastic scene. I love the framing you have captured a nice positional flow to this falls. I also like the yellow foliage that matches the light on the rocks to the left. It balances the scene nicely. :toast:

Preston, I do recall your capture of this scene and asking where it was taken at the time. The perspective here is everything IMO. An excellent POV on this fairly long cascade incline overall. Not mentioned, but looks like an autumn take on this locale? Regardless, the collection of yellow leaves adds nicely to the capture.

edit; my bad, I missed the title, so, it was autumn as the look surely appears.

Beautiful Preston. Excellent shutter speed so that the water looks like syrup dripping off the rocks.

Preston, really like the way you composed this pretty little scene, and the yellow gold's really makes it stand out beautifully, also like your shutter speed. Excellent work.

A fine comp showing the water's journey. A peaceful image, and a scene I would like to have the time to experience.

This is a luscious waterfall, Preston, surrounded by nice warm colors in both the rocks and the leaves. I find the expanse of bright, wet rock at the bottom distracting and think that cropping so the water exits just above the corner helps.

Mark, I appreciate your comment. While decided against cropping, I did burn the bright area to the right and below of the cascade. I also reduced the blue and cyan in those areas.

I am interested in which image you all prefer.

Thanks for the comments, everyone.

I think this looks great. Actually prefer the original post on my monitor. This comp works very nicely with a nice balance of contrasting colors and textures.
