Laid Back

This Walrus seemed to me to be imitating a Sea Otter. Conditions were atrocious very poor light almost misty and I was in a Zodiac bouncing up and down with the sea and others movements!
Taken somewhere in Svalbard.
EOS 1DX
200-400 mm F4 at 400 mm
ISO 1600
1/1000

Good job of getting this photo  You have very nice detail in the walrus's face and head. Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful shot Ken, especially since it was shot from a Zodiac in rough light. Nice one!

Ken,

I like the way he seems to be looking at you. Once again, it looks like the new lens is doing stelar work. I plan to rent a 200-400 over Christmas and try it out. After that, I think that I'll end up purchasing the 200-400 over the 500. There were too many instances during my recent trip to Yellowstone where I desparately needed a zoom capability. On quite a few occasions, I found myself too close to my subject with no way to remedy it.

Jerry,
Thanks for your comment :toast:
Regarding the 200-400 I can only say just buy it, it is something you will never regret. I have had the same problem with the 500 mm the flexibility of the zoom adds so much. Now all I need is to find someone to buy the 500 MK II, it seems a pity to leave it in the cupboard

Love it Ken! Image quality is excellent, in spite of hight iso, mist, lack of light, movement....yada,yada. A bit of an abstract feel, but the eye brings it all back to reality. Did I mention I love the colors in the water.

Well done, very sharp and nicely composed given the conditions. I also like the dof and coloration of the FG and BG.
