Inquisitive Moose

We found this Moose (Alces alces) browsing right besides the Maligne Lake Road in Jasper National Park during our trip this past winter. A very inquisitive Moose indeed: looked right into the SUV's windows.

I ran out of focal length (on the short side): photographed at 150 mm with my 150-500 mm. Very minor crop. No feeding of course.

7D, Sigma 150-500 at 150 mm, f/7.1, ISO 640, 1/400 sec, braced in car seat, natural light, and very cold day. PP in LR5, PS-CC and NIK.

Thanks for looking. All comments are much appreciated. Thanks for all your comments on my previous photos. NPN really helps my photography.

Roger, nice colour in the moose's face. Maybe an aperture of 5.6 to further degrade that background? Nice Catch light in the eye. :toast:

Excellent detail and a well filled frame. The only thing that would have made it better under the circumstances would have been a slight head turn toward you. :toast:

A very effective close-up portrait Roger, I like the stoic expression. The profile view is key to making this one work for me. :toast:

How often is 150mm too close in wildlife photography! You made the best of it!

Roger,
Being too close is not something that occurs to often (with the exception of Elephants), Wonderful detail on this. :toast: :toast:
