Hi Albert!
Good job capturing the impact of this intimate scene. As for you question, I do think the background colors add to the scene, partly because they are out of focus, and thus provide a nice contrast without competing details. The same is true for the pond, as I found myself asking "what pond?" until I looked closely. I'm not sure if you want the reflection in the pond to be more noticeable, but if you do, I think you would need different lighting to make the background brighter. Having said that, I'm not sure if that would improve this particular composition. I think this works well as is; and one that emphasizes the pond would work better with a smaller foreground subject.

I like the pond and background colors, but not so much the brown path(?) cutting through the middle.

Thanks for the comment John. I now mention that the brown edge on the pond is autumn leaves on the water

Very pretty intimate scene Albert. I like the out of focus backround and bright colors. Well done.

Those are striking red leaves set off nicely by the yellows/greens in the background. The pond works well also, but the path is a bit distracting.

Lovely. I like the smaller, more intimate scope of this composition. The red oak leaves standout nicely against the pond. Good use of dof.
