Klickitat's Bounty

Klickitat is one of the Native American names for Mt. Adams, and the name Klickitat is a common one around here. I picked the title for the county bearing the name, rather than for the mountain itself. Western Klickitat County has some of the best scenery in the lower 48 states. (Stuff like this, this, and this.) If you ever have a chance to visit, take it.

This is a horizontal composition of the photo I posted earlier. Once again I've removed three distant wires that run across the scene above the trees.

Nikon D80
Nikon 18.0-70.0 mm f/3.5-4.5 52.0 mm
1/30 sec at f/16 and ISO 100

gorgeous, compelling scene in gorgeous light. A pleasure to view. What more could one ask - except, perhaps, to be sitting there in person enjoying it.

Wonderful warm light and feel to the scene John. Nice detail in the large version. Makes me want to have been there. Really beautiful image. :toast:

Adams is showcased really nicely here John! Love the way the soft pastel light on the mountain contrasts with the sharp golden light on thr aspen grasses in the foreground. Like the others have said, makes me wish I was there! :toast:

What a beautiful day in the NW! I think I prefer this image to the vertical comp posted earlier as it feels more "airy". Excellent John.

This is real fine, John. I easily prefer it to the vertical comp, though I like that shot as well. I see nothing that can be improved here.

Another beauty from this area for you, John. Great light, especially those streaks across the foreground grasses to add more depth. The clouds top it all of very nicely. Well done!

Fantastic lighting you found. The tree, shadows/light and cloud works so well together for this horizontal. I might add a bit more contrast so the shadows are darker and to give th mnt a lttle more pop. Forgive, not on a calibrated monitor so I maybe off on this. They need to remove those poles for good!

This is a beauty, John. The warm light streaming across the landscape is complimented beautifully by the warmth in the clouds. Great looking image.

Wow, John - another beautiful image from this location. I actually prefer this composition to the vertical that you posted before. The horizontal places less emphasis on the foreground and encourages my eye to wander more throughout the frame. Those clouds are sweet too!! I also liked the three images that you linked to - especially the second. Great stuff!!

Nice foreground for this majestic mountain. I would love to Klick-at-it too (sorry, getting giddy after clicking on those links. How could I ever forget Morning Glory?) Seriously, those warmly-lit clouds, combined with the colorful foreground make a nice frame here.

This is outstanding John! I definitely prefer this version to the vertical you posted earlier. I like how you placed the mountain off to the right, but still balanced out the sky with the clouds on the left.

Nice color and composition, John. The larger version is a must see. This would look incredible hanging on the wall, printed very large of course
