Too Short
by Peter Cross
This is a photo from an early morning walk last week at the local nature preserve. I was watching a small group of black-tailed deer feed when this fawn went over to one of the educational signs along the trail. It almost looked as if he was trying to read what was on it but he was just too short to see it. But it does demonstrate that deer are not really as big as we often think they are. As the sign is at about waist level for us, this fawn isn't that big. But we rarely get an opportunity to actually make a comparison. This photo is full frame with a bit added in exposure to lighten, warmed up, and slightly tweaked a few other things. Nothing major. Not a strong composition but I thought it was kind of cute. Interestingly, I saw an adult buck do the same thing a few days ago. Must be a smell associated with people on the plaque. Kids with candy coated hands? Comments and critiques would be appreciated.
