A different kind of beach shot. October is my favorite month on the beach. Everything is blooming like crazy and it's beautiful. This is just a more wooded area of the beach on Santa Rosa Island, part of Gulf Islands National Seashore.

A LARGE version is available for better detail.

D2x w/ 35-70 @ 38mm
1/25 @ f/11 - MLU and remote release
100 ISO
No filters
Capture One 6, CS4

Thanks for looking and leaving a comment/critique.

Nice to have flowers this time of year Bill; we don't have many. I also like the variety of color in the image.

This has a very nice feel to it Bill, soft colors, warm light, and as always, presented beautifully. Definitely like the mood. Excellent work.

Great light here, Bill. The light hitting everything here is especially nice. Wonderful collection of colors also. I see a neat pano take on this one too. Maybe cropping down to the top of the broken tree on the right. It would not cut into the top on the FG left plants either. Just a thought for another look.

Thanks for a beach view like I have never seen before, Bill. Apparently these beautiful colors are often overlooked, as I don't recall seeing this kind of scene before. I like the warn feeling of the Sun on the plants, which to me just feels like a nice touch of heat on a cool day (although I have no idea what the temperature may have been).

P.S. Speaking of temperatures, I recall that you wished for some of our northern fall colors in a comment this week. Be careful what you wish for -- the temperature here a couple nights ago was in the teens. I don't know how you get to the islands where you live, but soon we will be walking across the lakes to get to them up here.

A nice mix of fall color showcased very nicely with that wonderful light, Bill. This is an image I would not usually associate with the beach. I could also see this as a pano with a crop of the sky. Either way this is a beautiful image.

You don't miss a thing, Bill. Had no idea October was bloom time in Florida.

I really like the light and color here Bill. Everything is brown here now with winter approaching quickly. Morning temps in the 30's.

Beautiful colors and light in this Bill with fine textures in the scene. Never seen a fall scene from Florida before. Great job on this.

Allergy season in the deep south! The light sets off this beautifully arranged comp. As I've said many times before, nobody gets the panhandle landscape quite like you, Bill.

Well Bill, I had no idea much changed in FL, and thanks for posting this well seen image. The colors and detail are top notch in the fall foliage. I am back and forth with keeping the sky in, or taking it out. When I take it out, I concentrate on the scene a bit more, but the blues are nice addition as well. Overall, a sweet shot!
