Hardwoods in Peak Colors

Although my trip there in 2005 was good, I just returned this afternoon from the Smokies, and this my first experience there in full colors. While a couple of weeks late this year, much of the lower elevations were exceptional. This stand of hardwood was at the end of the unpaved road at Tremont. Nothing was done to saturation, the colors are pretty much as seen. Full frame, larger image (had to dumb it down a lot to fit).

This can only get better large. Lovely pastels, and a good range of colors.

A beautifully, classic autumn foliage scene. Nicely captured

Bill: One of my favorite places on the planet. Talk about a target rich environment! I love these kind of shots in general and this one in particular. Well seen, composed, and captured. 2 thumbs up! >=))>

Just the most wonderful textures imaginable, Bill. I could gaze at this all day !! It somehow suggests the evanescent quality of the autumn leaves - the bark too making its contribution to the overall effect.

Bill - Awesome Colors and a very strong vertical appeal - goes well with the tall trees. All the criss crossing of the branches seem to have a rhythm or harmony to them.

Thanks for the WP, gang. I have to consider myself lucky to have been there with such good colors, because it was very windy that day, and I waited for a lull in the breeze to get this. Thanks again.
