Red Fox and Kit

by Ralph Kerr

Gallery: WildlifePosted November 3, 2013687 views6 comments
Male Red Fox running with kit. From May 31 last spring. Male looks a little scruffy from partially shedding his winter coat. Lightened a bit in levels, and usual sharpening. Comments always appreciated.

1DIV, EF600, ISO 1600, f8, 1/4000, cloudy, tripod.

Ralph,

You need to view the large image to really appreciate this.
Would it be possible to move the subjects further down?

I agree that it looks better in the large version, Ralph!
Seeing as the FG is OOF I would crop that out. It is a pity there isn't more separation between subjects and immediate background but not much you can do about that... :toast:

Ralph, the foxes and their colors are vibrant. I agree with Morkel, that cropping out a bit of the FG might aid the main subject.

You were very fortunate to capture the two generations together, the youngster mirroring the adult. I think the photo could be lightened up just a little. Agree with the previous suggestion of having the foxes lower in the frame and showing more at the top, if that was an option; I like the interesting fallen tree's texture and shape in the composition. Sharpness looks very good on the moving subjects. :toast:
