Presque Isle River

This is a picture I made in mid October while I was in the Porcupine Mountains of Upper MI. I hiked along the Presque Isle River earlier in the day trying to find a shot I could make later that day. It was nice hiking around without packing all my gear while scouting. I went back in the late afternoon with better light and enjoyed making a couple of new images from this location. Kind of wish I was back there now standing on that foreground rock! Thanks for looking and any thoughts.

Great scene here, Nick. I like the view up the river along with the rich greens and the beginings of fall color. Looks like you had a great day.

It's nice to see images posted from times other than the golden hours. I also appreciate the not-so-comon square-ish crop. A nice delightful scene.

This is such a sweet capture of that beautiful area that the Porcupines encompass Nick. I was out that way in late may, and very much so enjoyed my time in the Porcupines. The comp is just perfect for this shot, and I wish I was back there as well!

I appreciate all of your comments on this one so far. Thanks, Nick
Richard, I really do enjoy making photographs of the upper mid-west area. I would enjoy visiting your area one of these days too.
Ryan, We will probably meet up in the Porcupines one of these days. I go there quite often. Maybe in January again this coming year.
John, I'm going to work on a print for my studio / gallery next week. Like you I think this format should work nice as a framed print. Thanks all! Nick

Beautiful Nick. The almost square format works very nicely with this composition. You've successfully made me "feel" this image and that's what it's all about.

Beautiful scene, Nick. Very well captured. Makes me want to be there as well. I like the square crop, but if I'm searching for nits I'd say the way the river and foliage are framed it makes it something of a 50/50 vertical split, which I'm not completely sold on here. That's really reaching though. :toast:

Nice, Nick. I really like the forsted part of this, and its very well presented as usual. To be super picky im not crazy about the water--not sure if its the exposure or just the way the rapids were--but anyhow it's not a big deal. :wavey:

Thanks Bill, Jared and Stan!
Jared, I know just what you mean on the comp. I gave that some thought myself. I did shoot this same scene as a horizontal with more on the left too, but just out of the frame here on the left there was a tree that I had a hard time dealing with... so in the long run I went with this version. Appreciate the thoughts from you guys! Nick
