Spirit Island 2 + 2 reposts

Another photo from the beautiful and photogenic Spirit Island on Maligne Lake in the Canadian Rockies. It would have been nice to have had time to try many different comps in this amazing setting but we were only allowed 10 minutes off the boat. Still, I was able to get several I liked, of which this is another. My previous post took in more of the grand scene, including the background mountains contrasting with this one which includes more foreground elements. I still prefer the first posting but liked this different view also.

Canon 60D. 21mm at F/18 for 1/20 sec. ISO 320.

I actually prefer this one with it's nice arrangement of fg elements and the clouds coming off the far peak. My only nit would be the tip of the island cut off on the left. Beautiful scenery and you've captured it so nicely.

Well, after posting this, I looked at it more critically and thought it could use some tweaking. I cropped a bit off the left and brightened the shadows a bit. Interesting how things often seem different after posting.

Beautiful scene! I like your comp, has a good mix of elements. Personally i might pull a bit of the blue/purple out of the mountains--i would think the sky should be more blue than the mountains but here it looks the other way around.

Such a gorgeous scene, and one I would dearly love to shoot someday. I like the comp here, but I agree the cyans could be moved to blue a little. At least in the sky as I'm sure the lake has that great glacial silt coloration probably.

Thanks all for your comments! Nancy, not sure if my repost makes the island clipping work better or not? Stan & Morris, I tried to pull back on some of the blue in the mountains, plus I did some more tweaking in this second repost; hopefully it's better. Sometimes it's hard to know when there is enough editing done before it starts going over the top.

Last edit for me too Carolyn; beautiful scene. The clouds fill that gap perfectly.
