Golden Lotus Banana

This is from a Golden Lotus banana plant in my backyard. It is also called the Chinese dwarf banana. The flowers bloom and stay for about 2 months in good condition and then gradually lose a few of the outer leaves till they are all gone in another 2-3 months. The plants haven't produced any fruit in the few years we have had them.

There were other plants crowding the comp so I used a drop cloth to isolate this bloom. I also included the top two leaves in the composition so the viewer could connect the flower to the leaves and it added a bit of green to the image.

I have other versions I shot with a tighter crop and without the clean background, but I liked this vertical comp the best.

Would love to hear your thoughts on this comp and the image overall.

Thanks for looking. Your comments are appreciated.

Sanjay: Got a real nice -meter spike from this one. Fantastic subject and a superb comp. My only suggestion for the smaller version would be to place a 1 pixel white stroke around it to separate the image from the site BG. You could also edit the BG color so the edges of the image frame are more obvious. >=))>

Sanjay:

A very eye catching image :toast: I like the composition with the leaves leading away and up to the top. Fabulous color and great to see the bananalings between the petals. Well done!

This pops with just the right amt of color and light. Drop cloth works well to keep it uncluttered. The radiating green stems are leading lines that accent the center. I surmise you cropped tight caused by the drop in quality of those stems. A bit more width would be cool. Including the top leave adds a nice flare. Well done!

Sanjay ..love the comp of placing it in the 3rd and the lines leading into the corner ...the dark bg and the contrasting color of the flower ..all works very well

Sanjay,
This is a stunning image and very well composed. Everything works well and the BG really makes it POP.
My only suggestion would be to move your copyright signature to the upper right corner where you have more room, it seems a bit crowded as is.
Well done on this one . . . :toast:

I think the composition works extremely well, Sanjay - the inclusion of the tall leaves adds dynamism. Beautifully lit - a very fine image !
