Brown Honeyeater
by Dennis Plank
At least I think that's what it is. I couldn't pinpoint this one in the field guide we were using, so I took the camera over the the Tyto Wetlands headquarters and one of the volunteers there said that's probably what it was. Any Aussie birders that think differently are welcome to chime in.
Interestingly, my wife spotted this nest right next to a blind in the wetlands and we saw two different species acting like they were both interested in using it. There were occasional spats and both arranged nesting material. I went back the next day, and it was just the other species (I'll post an image of it in a day or two).
7D, 300mm f4 + 1.4TC, hand held (backed into the far corner of the blind). f8, 1/1600, iso 500, Av mode with no compensation. Processed in CS6 and cropped to 15MP. Taken at the Tyto Wetlands in Ingham, QLD at 8:31 am on October 29th.
Comments and criticisms are most welcome.
Thanks for looking,
