Red-necked Phalarope

This is a photo from the Seward Peninsula in Alaska this past June. We found several small ponds with red-necked phalaropes busily foraging. They were in constant high speed motion when in this feeding mode and difficult to photograph.

Canon MKIV, 600mm, 1/2000, f7.1, ISO 640, photo cropped 15% all around for semi-panoramic composition.

All your comments and suggestions are very much appreciated.

A truly outstanding image Ken. The fast shutter speed in great light really did a nice job of freezing the action. If there is one thing I could choose to make it a little more interesting would be some catch light in the eye. Still a gorgeous capture.

Nice photo Ken. The stop action of the water is terrific. Exposure of whites spot on, as well as other colors. :wavey:

A very cool shot! Good color and action. It looks like he has a rope of water looped around his neck.

Great job on the stop action of the water, Ken. I like the light. I do wish the eye popped more, but I think that's just a characteristic of the species and there's not much to be done about it.
