This is the image, that made me think of this challenge. My adult daughter and I were walking out of the house, and she spotted this pregnant roach and let out a scream! She yelled, "Oh, my God....It's the roach from Hell!". So, of course, I had to take a nice close-up for her!

Oh no! A pregnant roach! You sure don't want these guys multipying near your house. I like the top-down view and the interesting turning pose you captured. Good lighting too. Compwise, it could use a crop off the left and some more space added to the right. You are such a thoughtful mother to preserve the memory of this encounter for your daughter.

Don't worry about her offspring....she did not last past the photo shoot! Thank God, she was outside my house and not inside! Gross!!!
And, yes, Tricia really appreciated the memories...........NOT!
The original included the rest of her incredibly long antennae....but it seemed like a lot of wasted space,as the antennae faded out of focus.... so I cropped this closer.

I like the story of how you came to this title Lucy.. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree
Good top shot, I like the details and 'curved' pose that show us the enlarged abdomen.
Well done :toast:

Okay, how do you know it's pregnant? The details and colors are good, as is the pose. I have mixed feelings about the full antennae being cropped off, I'd like to see the tips, but this is a fine tight look.

Good for you, Lucy: first to stop and get such a fine, detailed image, and second for successful "physical pest control." The background also works very well for this.

Definitely one of my least favorite insects. Great details here. :toast:

Mark, she has ovipositors, so it is female. And, when she was walking straight, the abdomen was almost twice as big as her wing length. Either she was about to lay an egg casing or she really was " the roach from Hell" :
