Took this in the Redwoods State Park in northern California on our trip through Washington and Oregon. Kind of a follow up of Cathedral that I posted in Flora. Only a couple of minutes on the trail and the entire world was silent except for the tiny zephyr of wind playing through the tops. Perhaps the whisper of angels? All comments welcome. >=))>

Bill, the Redwoods is one of my favorite places in the world. Immediately, I perceived the huge scale of the trees in your photo. Maybe the wind caused the foliage in the top third of the frame to blur. The left two trunks look a little fuzzy, too.

I've never been there ... but I'd say that this is a somewhat different and refreshing take on the redwoods. It looks a little soft at the very top.

After reading the comments I see it's been said, but I'll go ahead and say what I was going to say. I can truly feel the mass of the big trees here. The foliage up front sets them off well.

Bill, to me this capture is excellent from the POV that any deep forest scene is not an easy thing to pull off. With that said, this is extremely nice and the larger version is a must see for the big tree details.

Bill,

this is wonderful! Honestly, it took me a few seconds AND reading your comments before I got a true grip on this. For a fleeting second, the part of the trunk on the right was coming across as a waterfall. I had that impression from the thumb as well. In the end though, I think that feeds right in to the sense of enormity and scale here that others are talking about.

The only small suggestion I have is the color in the tree. Yes, I've seen this and these trees aren't really "red" to begin with (at least not in all situations.) But the right hand part of the trunk seems a tad too cyan. That may just be me and I don't have the reference of being there, but it may be something to look at. Very minor though.

Excellent job crafting this one from the Redwoods.
