Green Eyed Monster

Robber flies are creepy, not just because they are so ugly....but also, because they look like HUGE mosquitoes. This one was around 2 inches high. Notice that the thorax appears to have been sloppily pieced together out of rubbish pulled out of a garbage dump. Definitely not a pretty creature!

Why, that fly is just as cute as it can be! Great macro, Lucy! Excellent job of getting so much in focus. :toast:

How can you resist those beautiful green eyes and bright red legs? Looks like you could trim your Christmas tree with these. But now that you mention it, there are a few parts that are not that attractive. Hey, nobody's perfect.

Excellent work getting this one in the focal plane for great details.

Nice side view of one of my favorite insects Lucy, I like how the light has lit-up the green eye here.
Good details, well done! :toast:

I think these are cool. I've tried a couple of times and never been able to get a clear shot of one. They seem to be very observant and watchful. That eye is terrific. and the sharpness is right where it needs to be.

Nicely composed and well-lit Lucy. Sharpness is incredible; you can see little claws at the end if it's legs and hair on it's body; he almost needs a trim  .

Very nice work, Lucy. Not sure I'm familiar with these guys, but just looking at it reminds of Jeff Goldblum the actor in "The Fly" movie......

Great macro shot of this critter, Lucy. Good job getting such a sharp focus of this ugly thing. . .thank you very much. The lighting works well to highlight the details, too. That middle is quite strange, but I guess serves it's purpose. I like the jewel-like color green of the eye and the red spiky legs with a claw are. . .um. . .interesting. Well photographed.

Lucy, I should have notice this fun photo of this creepy insect earlier. In addition to everything everyone said, there doesn't seem to be much area for a brain between the eyeballs. It is not a pleasant looking insect, except for the Christmas-themed colors of its eyes and legs.

Well done! :toast:
