This Polar Bear is the same one who kindly posed at almost eye level, taken whilst lying flat on the deck of M V Stockholm, in the middle of nowhere.

I am loving this series Ken. In this one I particularly like the pose you captured. Technically all is working here .... exposure, composition, etc... I would have liked a clear blue sky in the bg but I guess you can't always win

The exposure is excellent, showing nice texture in the whites. I like the head turn and uplifted paw. The bear feels a little unbalanced to me. Perhaps it is due to the pose, but I might just be the perceived horizon of the ice. I like it much better with about 2 degrees rotation.

Mario,

I am afraid blue skies were in great shortage on this trip

Lon
Well spotted I was not as flat as I thought

Hey Ken,

This one leaves me totally cold! Sorry...I couldn't resist that (and just kidding)!

I like the view of the furry paw here but have to agree with Lon's view on the slightly unbalanced feeling of this (perhaps the "butt dominance" of the pose contributes to that). All techs - exposure, DoF, sharpness - look totally solid to me.

Cheers...

Brad

Here is a re-post with a tad of rotation, I also tried to put some colour in the sky, but I am not sure it works

Nice shot. Very sharp. I like the raised paw.

Hi Ken,

Both images look great to me. It's good to know that you were aboard a ship with that short of a focal length. The only thing I can think of is to consider cloning the snow out that sits above the bear's back.
