The pier at Galveston Island, Texas. This was made the day before (6-20-06) Hurricane Katrina hit the New Orleans area..
F/18, 1/20th, Canon 20D with a kit lens.
Cropped to 4:5 because the sun was OE left of frame in the original horizontal. I used Nik Silver Efex (antique) & other tweaks to save it.

I know this pier well. I like the old time feeling of this image. You did very well with the processing.

Hi Howard,

I have not visited Galveston, but before I read your note, the photo made me think of the Galveston hurricane of 1900 that all but destroyed the place. Let's hope that doesn't happen again.

I like the photo. The birds on the left are a bit tight on the edge, and I wonder what the image would look like without the light vignette. :wavey:

Neat shot, Howard. This definitely has that "old time" feeling, with lots of interesting textures in the sea and sky set off well by the clean lines of the pier. Quite a save!
