Die Grosse Freiheit

One of the most scenic mountains in the Jura mountains of switzerland, yet not "over photographed". Best time of year to photograph on top of "Grenchenberg" (Mount Grange) is in fall and winter when the valley below is covered by fog so you can't see the cities and villages below.
This is from last saturday moring - one of those mornings when everything comes together.

Nikon D800, 14-24mm/f2.8, 2 exposures blending manually for dynamic range

This is beautiful Bill! The mix of blue and magenta looks perfect to me. The negative space on the right created by the fog is very effective here.

This is extraordinary, Bill. I like the perspective and the way that the fog veils the scale. Wonderful rich color as well. I really like this!! :toast:

Simply wonderful! The fog below adds an appealing sense of mystery. I like the touch of color in the fog, and the mountains on the horizon in the background. Well done!

Looks great Roland. I really like the sky colors reflected in the fog and the gentle colors added to the snow. I'm chuckling because from the thumb, I was expecting a lake on the right. What a neat surprise to find fog.

Looks like a great and mighty river coming at you and then descending in front. Spectacular image. Indeed, it did all come together here. Any idea what the tracks in the snow are?

Crazy Bill! Did you by any chance make a close-up of the cool crystals on the branches?? Good to see you posting again.

Wow Bill, this kicks ***. The total winner.
These frosted grasses look like some interesting subject matter for some close ups too. I bet if I would have witnessed this, I would have missed the grand vista in this light and then would come home with a mediocre gloger grass image..

Yes, this looks like a "mountain-top" moment to me. One of those that you can almost hear the choirs of angels singing. Outstanding image!

That for all your feedbacks on this one. I really do appreciate it.
@Peter Cross: no idea what tracks this area.Might be tracks from a chamois...hope this is the perfect english expression. There are quie a lot of them in the Jura Mountains.

Unfortunately I didn't make any close-ups....but this is just the beginning of winter and this mountain is close enough to home to go back there again and again. It's just harder to get there until the winter has really begun.

Again thanks a lot for all your comments. Also a special thanks to Mark Metternich for his great video tutorials.......his "Blend if" technique is awesome and changed my entire processing. The blending in this one is done using his technique
