I am off to Etosha in Namibia and the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park (Kalahari desert) in South Africa for 2 weeks...with my family this time instead of clients.

So I'll do a send-off with this photo taken in Etosha earlier this year. I won't visit this bunker again this time, but am looking forward to exploring the rest of the park and obviously hitting my beloved Kalahari as well. See you all somewhere in December!

Techs:
Nikon D3s
Nikkor 24-70mm f2.8 @ 44mm
Kenko Pro Circular Polariser
f8.0 | 1/400 SS | ISO-800

I really like the composition, Morkel. My only nit is the outstretched trunk of the background individual, usually a point of interest, but here it feels like a distraction from the great stare down with the main, near subject.

Great image Morkel ! I like the panoramic presentation and low angle but have to agree with Lon about the trunk sticking out. It does distract but not much you could about it because what counts is the eye contact and pose of the one in the foreground and if you had waited for the guys in back to stop interacting the main subject could have moved on.

Have fun in Etosha !!

Morkel,
I find this one just too cluttered, but lets face it Elephants rarely line up tidily, at least not in my experience.
You should not need good luck in Etosha (best park in Africa?), how about some Oryx and Black Faced Impalla?

Thanks folks.
Back from our trip.

Ken - struck out on elephants anyway as the rains came with us - but how does a pride of lions killing a giraffe right next to me sound? I was the only vehicle there too

Morkel,

I am not a great fan of Giraffe kills, but lets see them!
