Southern Maidenhair Fern
by Sanjay Sundaram
Back-lit Southern Maidenhair Fern (Adiantum capillus-veneris)
This fern is native to the lower parts of the US and can be seen growing wild along rivers and streams in Central Texas.
I wanted to capture the airy and translucent quality of the fern. The ferns are very light and move a lot with the slightest breeze. They are also very small plants and grow low to the ground.

10 commentsexcellent leaves close-up photo with very nice fall colors, perfect light, very good clarity and superb bokeh. I like the arrangement in vertical format and the excellent contrast against well blurred background. Well done.
I like the 'airy' fluid flow of this composition with the leaves trailing down. Nice details and color.
Phil: The scientific name of this fern is Adiantum capillus-veneris.
