The only decent shots of this species I've had before came from Southern California and Arizona. I finally found a cooperative one at Ridgefield on Thursday.

7D, 500mm f4 + 1.4TC, beanbag in truck window, f8, 1/2500, Av mode with no compensation, iso 500. Processed in CS6. Cropped from the horizontal and a bit of canvas added to the top. Taken at 1:12 pm on November 21st.

Your comments and criticisms are greatly appreciated.

Thanks for looking,

Great detail/DOF and a nice head turn, well composed Dennis.
Maybe it's my monitor, but you might try a slight curves adjustment to bring up those mid-tones a tad?
Well done :toast:

Wonderful detail and a nice clean perch. The darker edge does not bother me but I do wish the leading part of the branch was a little more in focus. :toast:

NIcely framed ! The exposure works fine for me, but this is a case where it may be different depending on individual monitor settings ! Like ! Hans

Very nice, Dennis. I especially like the shoulder tufts in the wind and the angle of the light on the chest.

Nice pose and excellent sharpness. BG and perch look good. It looks a little bit dark but it may be this monitor. Overall good job.
