Thank you for your comments on my previous image. They are appreciated.

This image from Leidig Meadow in Yosemite valley was made the on the same morning as my recently posted image from Ahwahnee Meadow. The mist in the meadows was beginning to evaporate, so I had to set up fairly quickly--not an easy task with a view camera. This was the result of my effort.

After looking at this, I decided it was too dark. So, I tweaked it.

What do you think?

Preston, I think you're right the first post was too dark. The second is much better and allows us to see more detail in the BG area.
The only change I might make for another look is to select the FG grass and slightly turn down the light there. Maybe just a very slight downward tweak with the gamma output. Regardless, the second is better overall.

I like the image. The exposure on the 2nd image is the best. The only thing I would try is to crop from the bottom, up close to where the grass gets lighter.

You get super clarity out of the telephoto.
Subtle and pleasing, I Also think a bit off the bottom would look good.

The second post work's beautifully for me, like the fact you lightened it a bit, it definitely brings out more detail. Love the early morning ground fog and natural colors. Pretty scene Preston, with a very nice autumn mood.

just because ... i like the brightness in the original - with the exception of your chosen subject - which looks better when standing out against the dark background ... always contrary, i know. and i wonder, just for wondering's sake, how the comp would have stood with a slightly less 50:50 comp? these are the questions that float through my mind. but i like the quietness and elegance.

Your repost works better for me Preston. The misty mid ground and back lit trees and frosty (?) grasses are simply beautiful.

I've looked at this several times now trying to decide which I like better. It's still a real close call, but I think I prefer the original by a slight margin. Regardless of which version though, this is a beautiful capture.
