Orb Weaver Web

I thought that this would fit well in the man/nature category in that this particular orb weaver spider has moved on to my front porch and builds a new web daily. Interestingly, every day, the spider consumes the nest, rests for about an hour and begins construction of a new one. One morning, I found this particularly attractive build with the morning sun just slightly highlighting the nest as the sun was rising. I was fascinated one day as I watched the spider build the nest to see how quickly such a beautiful geometric pattern came together. There is a YouTube video showing an orb weaver building a nest in real time. They work surprisingly very fast!

The shot was made with a Canon T3i equipped with 18-55mm kit lens at 55 mm.

I am always impressed with the delicate geometry of spider webs. Nice capture.

Thanks Richard, I was typically photographing the web every day in that it was always slightly different, with different lighting and size, etc. I also have some good shots of that little creature, the spider, hanging out in the middle of the web. Usually the shots are pretty challenging in that the web was always blowing in the breeze.
